Sir Ian’s guest coaching session for the Oaks

At this week’s training session we were joined by a very special guest coach, Sir Ian himself. We were thrilled to welcome him to Goodwin Sports Centre on Wednesday evening.

It was a great opportunity for the players to share in the wealth of experience of the ex-British and Irish Lions coach, running through defensive, attacking and support play.

A massive thanks to Head Coach Rob McGeechan for organising Sir Ian to come down to the Oaks’ training session, it was an excellent (and surprising) start for some of our first-timers and newer players.

The game this weekend will be a club match, Oaks vs Oaks, as Wath 4s unfortunately are unable to make the friendly. However, this gives old and new players the opportunity to have a run out together.

Kick off is 2.15pm at Niagara, and afterwards, as usual, there is the Beeches’ meat raffle to be won! In the evening we are having a social at the Dogs at Owlerton Stadium, from 7pm, anyone interested should speak with Simon on Saturday for tickets.

You can follow the Oaks on Twitter and Facebook for news and score updates.
